CINEMA

  • L'antico Egitto è stato sovente al centro dei colossal cinematografici hollywoodiani e sono innumerevoli i film realizzati sulla materia con risultati altalenati che vanno – in una scala di valori - dal superlativo al mediocre.

    A dare il là al filone del kolossal provvedeva nel 1923 Cecil B.De Mille “I dieci Comandamenti” che ottenne un successo clamoroso per l’epoca, tale che lo stesso regista ne dirigeva una nuova spettacolare versione in technicolor nel 1956 con un cast d’attori superlativo (Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, Edward G. Robinson, Yvonne De Carlo, Debra Paget, John Derek, Vincent Price, Cedric Hardwicke, Woody Strode, John Carradine). Non va poi dimenticato “Cleopatra” del 1963, diretto da Joseph Mankiewicz e interpretato da Elizabeth Taylor, girato negli studi romani di Cinecittà.
